How will the area be shaped?

Do you want to know what will be coming and where? The design for the area was worked on together with local residents.

What preceded that?

Since September 2017, the City of Leeuwarden has been working closely with residents in the vicinity of the WTC area and other stakeholders in a working group. They developed a plan to take into account the concerns and opportunities raised. This intended to adapt the area to the needs of the community.

 

In the adopted urban plan, the local authority has outlined what the area near the WTC will roughly look like. In July 2018, the city council adopted a new proposal at the request of the developer, departing from the previous frameworks in some respects. The city council adopted the urban development plan on 23 January 2019. The stakeholder working group then worked on the environmental plan and the development plan.
