Quick to:

Where we are now

At the end of 2025, we submit the environment plan and the Environmental Impact Report to the city executive. After that, everyone will have 6 weeks to view and respond to the environment plan. We will also organise information sessions during this period. You can go there with all your questions.

We will let you know in good time when this period starts. We will do this via the official announcements at Overheid.nl and in the Huis aan Huis Leeuwarden.

What has been done

There is already a provisional environmental plan for Leeuwarden-Buitengebied Zuid. This is called a preliminary environment plan. It was put together with residents, entrepreneurs and organisations from the area. The city council adopted the preliminary environmental plan on 15 June 2021.

Subsequently, organisations and the city council provided additional points, wishes and comments. They are laid down in the Memorandum on the Building Blocks for the Draft Environment Plan.

Environmental impact assessment (EIA)

Besides preparing the new environment plan, we also examine what the new plan means for the surrounding area. For example, for the environment (such as odour, nitrogen, air and nature), for people’s health, economy and agriculture. We summarise this in the EIA. The EIA helps us make good choices for rules in the new environment plan. As part of this study, we also spoke to farmers in the area in 2022 and 2025.

The drafting of the EIA began with the Scope and Detail Document (NRD). This states what is and is not studied in the EIA and how it is done.
