Submitting an enforcement request
The local authority makes sure everyone complies with the rules. We call this enforcement. Is someone not keeping to the rules? If so, you can file a report or submit an official enforcement request.
Report or enforcement request
In case of a report, the local authority does not make an official decision. A report can also be made anonymously.
When you submit an enforcement request, the local authority will start an official procedure. You then become the requestor and included in this procedure.
In case of an enforcement request, the local authority make an official decision. You and the person who is the subject of the enforcement request can both object to the decision and file an appeal.
Conditions for submitting an enforcement request:
- The person submitting the request must be an involved party for the local authority to take your submission into consideration.
- It is not possible to do this anonymously.
- The submission must occur in writing of have a digital signature (DigiD) affixed.
Are you unwilling or unable to submit it online
You can also submit an enforcement request in writing. Send the request to:

What should you include in your enforcement request
- your name, address and telephone number and possibly your email address;
- the date on which you are writing the request;
- a clear description of the situation regarding which you are submitting the enforcement request;
- the address or location where the illegal situation is taking place;
- what you expect us to do about the situation;
- in what specific way is the situation making you experience nuisance?
- whether you have previously submitted an enforcement request in relation to this situation. Was a decision taken on that request? If so, explain why the current situation is new;
- your signature.
What can you do yourself
Submitting an enforcement request is only the final step.
Be sure to first talk to one another or file a report. Should filing a report not provide the desired result, you can always choose to submit an enforcement request.
Submitting an enforcement request can cause tension. If we send a supervisor, this might come across as an attack. You should therefore first try to find a solution together. This way, you may be able to solve it among yourselves and maintain a good relationship. You will also be able to avoid lengthy procedures.

We will decide on your request within 8 weeks. This period can be extended once by another 8 weeks. You will be informed of this separately.
