Submitting an enforcement request
You can submit an enforcement request if you believe someone is not complying with the local authority’s rules. For example, they might be building without an environmental permit or letting rooms without permission. You cannot submit an enforcement request anonymously.
Are you unwilling or unable to submit it online
You can also submit an enforcement request in writing. Send the request to:
City of Leeuwarden
Municipal Executive
Postbus 21000
8900 JA Leeuwarden
What should you include in your enforcement request
- your name, address and telephone number and possibly your email address;
- the date on which you are writing the request;
- a clear description of the situation regarding which you are submitting the enforcement request;
- the address or location where the illegal situation is taking place;
- what you expect us to do about the situation;
- whether you have previously submitted an enforcement request in relation to this situation. Was a decision taken on that request? If so, explain why the current situation is new;
- your signature.
What can you do yourself
Talk to each other. Submitting an enforcement request can cause tension. If we send a supervisor, this might come across as an attack. You should therefore first try to find a solution together. This way, you may be able to solve it among yourselves and maintain a good relationship. You will also be able to avoid lengthy procedures.
You can find tips for starting a conversation on the Social nuisance page. You will also find information about what to do if you cannot find a solution together.
After submitting your request
We will decide on your request within 8 weeks. This period can be extended once by another 8 weeks. You will be informed of this separately.
