Redevelopment of Stationsweg in Grou
We will get to work on Stationsweg in Grou. The street will be safer, greener and better prepared for the changing climate.
What are we going to do
Parkstraat (subproject 1)
We will renew the asphalt and the paving on the roadway and the footways. This will make the street clean and organised.
Stationsweg (between J.W. de Visserwei and Oedsmawei) (subproject 2)
We will replace the old sewer and install a new sewer for rainwater. We will also renew the roadway. This will ensure better drainage of rainwater and reduce the risk of flooding.
Stationsweg (between Oedsmawei and the roundabout) (subproject 3)
We will add more greenery to this part. We will also take measures to better collect rainwater, such as water storage. By doing so, we are preparing the street for the future, to ensure a pleasant living environment.
Grou roundabout (subproject 4)
The roundabout at the start of Stationsweg will be redesigned. The objective is to make traffic safer and help it flow better. Measurements have shown that the roundabout is too crowded during the evening rush hour. That is why two traffic islands will be installed. These are strips in the middle of the road to separate traffic. They allow cyclists and pedestrians to cross safely. Cyclists will not have right of way.
Map
On the Redevelopment of Stationsweg in Grou (opens in new tab) map, the subareas have been mapped out.
What we did over the past period
On 12 January, we held a walk-in meeting for residents, where we showed them the preliminary design for Parkstraat. Residents could see what the layout will look like. For the other phases, we showed which points for attention had already been communicated to us. We will work out these phases at a later stage. During the meeting, the residents could share further ideas and comments.
Representatives from the village and municipal employees were present. They provided an explanation of the plans and were available to answer questions.
All of these comments have since been incorporated and can be found in the document Stationsweg Grou wishes and answers.
We have collated all responses per subject, which provides us with a clear overview of the underlying cares and wishes. This might result in a comment not being reflected one in one in our response. The comments also included points not germane to the project of redevelopment of the Stationsweg. Where this occurs, we forward the signal to the relevant municipal department. However, we can make no decisions vis-à-vis the signal in question as part of this project.
Planning
The project will be carried out in several steps.
- Mid-2026: elaborating the Parkstraat design and sharing the definitive design with residents.
- Late 2026: preparing the work and selecting a contractor.
- Start of 2027: start of work.
