Social nuisance
The City of Leeuwarden tackles social nuisance through the Nuisance Reporting Point (MOL). Consider, for example, nuisance from your neighbours, loitering youth or drug nuisance. The local authority will discuss the report with you. The Nuisance Reporting Point works with other parties to combat nuisance, such as the police, the house building sector and healthcare institutions.
What can you do to get rid of structural social nuisance?
- Talk to the person causing nuisance or write a letter.
- If you find this difficult or you are unable to resolve the problem together, community mediation may provide a solution. Community mediation is offered free of charge.
- If you are a tenant, report the nuisance to your landlord. This can be Elkien or WoonFriesland, for example.
If you have already tried these steps and are still experiencing nuisance, you can report this to the Leeuwarden Nuisance Reporting Point. It is not possible to do this anonymously. The Nuisance Reporting Point will contact you within 4 to 6 weeks.
Are you unwilling or unable to pass them on online?
Contact the City of Leeuwarden.
Urgent reports
For urgent reports, you should call the police at 0900-8844. If you are in immediate danger, call 112.
Report residential, work or living environment?
Do you want to submit a report on your residential, work or living environment (public space)? For example, on loose paving stones, fly tipping, litter, graffiti, noise pollution from businesses and events, dangerous traffic conditions or nuisance caused by fireworks. Go to the Report residential, work and living environment or file a complaint page.
Concerns, but no nuisance?
Are you concerned about something, but this does not actually translate to a nuisance for you? For example, a neighbour who lives in a very dirty home, very frequently seeing bruises on a girl in your neighbourhood or suspicions of crime. If so, you should report this to the correct authority:
the Worrying Behaviour reporting hotline
If you are worried about someone, for example because they appear confused or can no longer properly take care of themselves, go to the GGD Fryslân website.
Meld Misdaad Anoniem
If you suspect criminal activities, go to the Meld Misdaad Anoniem (Report Crime Anonymously) website.
Veilig Thuis
If you have concerns related to domestic violence, child or elderly abuse, a nasty divorce or sexual abuse, go to the Veilig Thuis Friesland website.
Report animal cruelty
If an animal in your environment is being neglected or mistreated, go to the website of the Dutch Society for the Protection of Animals.
