Inspecting a permit or construction file
You can inspect construction files and permits. How and where depends on the year in which the file or permit was created. Digital copies of many older files are available for inspection, but only at Historical Centre Leeuwarden (HCL). Files that are not available in digital format can be inspected at the Town Hall, by appointment. Files from 2024 and later are only available in digital format.

Inspecting a permit or construction file from before 2024
Whether the permit or construction file can be inspected digitally and/or on site will depend on the year it was created and the previous local authority.
Historical centre Leeuwarden (HCL)
Is the year in which the file or permit was created listed in the previous table? In that case, these files are only available in digital format, and you will need to request them via the HCL website. You will then receive an email containing a link you can use to download the file or permit:

Is the year the file or permit was created not listed in the table? That means the file is available on paper, and you can make an appointment to view it at the Town Hall. Let us know at least 4 working days in advance what you want to view. This can be done by making an appointment ‘request to inspect permit or file’ .
