Events and protection of nature
Do you want to organise an event in or near a Natura 2000 site? There are special rules for this. These rules have been drawn up by the Province of Friesland. The Province of Friesland is responsible for protecting nature. This is a task under the Environment Act.
Which events are subject to additional conditions
Events with a major impact on nature must be reported to the Province of Friesland at least six months in advance. These are events that:
- attract more than 2,000 visitors a day;
- make use of amplified sound and artificial lighting;
- last for several days;
- continue in the evening (after 6 pm) and;
- are organised in or close to a Natura 2000 area.
Is it a smaller event?
Does your event not fall under above conditions? In that case, it is possible that you will not need a nature permit. Contact (opens in new tab) the Province of Friesland for advice. Allow for an application period of 13 weeks.
