Quick to:

What can you get a subsidy for?

  • Facade insulation
  • Floor insulation
  • Ground insulation
  • Attic/loft insulation
  • Roof insulation from the inside or from a flat roof
  • External roof insulation
  • Cavity wall insulation
  • HR++ glazing/HR++ triple glazing, insulated frame panel or an insulated door.
  • Replacement of an old boiler at least 15 years old with a new boiler with at least energy label A for appliances, suitable in combination with a hybrid heat pump.

Additional conditions for external roof insulation and cavity wall insulation

This is because we want to protect animals, such as bats, that may be nesting in your home during the insulation work. The additional conditions are:

  • Most importantly, you should choose an insulation company that works with the ‘nature-friendly insulation’ method. A list of suitable companies has been drawn up for this purpose. For more information on this, visit the Nature-friendly insulation website.
  • This insulation company follows the natural calendar. That means you cannot have the measures implemented in every month. You will also find the nature calendar on the Nature-friendly insulation website.
  • Your property will first be rendered free of animals. The animals must be able to leave safely before the insulation work begins. This is what the insulation company does.
  • For these measures, only a certain number of houses per neighbourhood may be insulated per calendar year. The insulation company knows which neighbourhoods are already ‘full’.
  • You must live in a property with a terrace or garden on the ground. A flat, for example, is not suitable.

This is a temporary measure. We are working on a plan to ensure that sustainability goes hand in hand with the protection of these animals.

Conditions

  • You own and live in the home in the City of Leeuwarden.
  • Your home has energy label D, E, F or G.
  • Does your home not have an established energy label? Then it must have been built before 1992.
  • Your home has a maximum WOZ value of €268,000 (reference date January 1, 2022).
  • Your household income does not exceed €48,625 gross per year.
  • You can use this subsidy once per address/household.
  • You first apply for a subsidy. Only then you carry out the measure.

What do you need for the application?

Hand in the following documents with your application:

  • A quote with your name, address and place of residence on it.
  • A description of every energy-saving measure or home improvement that is being done. Also state the name of the (insulation) material used.
  • The costs you have incurred.

Are you going to make the house more sustainable yourself?

  • A plan containing the work to be carried out.
  • An overview of the expected costs.
  • A schedule of the work that must also be feasible.
  • In the event of a boiler replacement: Proof that the old boiler is 15 years or older. You can prove this with an invoice or a photo of the type number.
  • You can only receive a subsidy for the costs of the materials, not for your own hours.

Amount of the grant

You can apply for a maximum subsidy of €2,500. If the measures together cost you less than €2,500? Then you can apply for a maximum of the total amount of the measures.

What do you do once the energy-saving home measures have been implemented?

You must submit a request for confirmation. You do this by returning the claim form that you received with the decision on your application. You also add the invoices and/or proof of payment to this claim form.

In the case of a do-it-yourself initiative and you have made the home more sustainable yourself, please add to this declaration form:

  • A before and after photo of the completed energy-saving housing measures. This photo shows the date the photo was taken.
  • An invoice (receipt) or agreement of the purchased materials with your name, address and place of residence on it.

Are you unwilling or unable to apply online?

Download the Application form subsidy scheme for energy-saving housing measures and fill it in. Send the form to the City of Leeuwarden. You can also hand it in at the Town Hall.

Would you like to do more to your poorly insulated home (or have it done)?

We have another subsidy scheme for insulating your home: go to the home insulation subsidy page. The same conditions apply for the energy label and maximum WOZ value of your property. There is no income requirement. You may be able to take advantage of both subsidies, enabling you to do even more to your home.
