New Vierverlaten–Ens high-voltage line
Central government is having TenneT install a high-voltage line (380 kV) between Vierverlaten (Groningen) and Ens (Noordoostpolder). The preferred route for this also goes through Leeuwarden.
Why is this necessary
A new high-voltage line is necessary because more and more electricity (including from sustainable sources) is entering the Netherlands, for example from offshore wind farms. Alongside this, electricity consumption by households, industry and cars is increasing. This is putting pressure on our national electricity grids.
Who is responsible
The commissioning party is the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate. The implementing party, and therefore the party responsible for communication to those living and working in the area, is TenneT.
The local authority does not have an official role in this project. However, we will share our opinions and keep an eye out for good places in the area. We will also stand up for residents’ welfare.
What do I notice and what can I do
TenneT will inform local residents of the preferred location for the new high-voltage line and make sure they are kept informed of developments.
