Emergency reception site Campanile in Goutum

There is a shortage of reception places for asylum seekers in the Netherlands. The Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA) has asked us to open an emergency shelter for approximately 130 people in the Campanile hotel in Goutum. Hotel Campanile is not a good fit for families. This is due to the layout of the building. This is for a period of 1 year, with the possibility of extending for 1 year. On Tuesday, May 30, 2023, the mayor and aldermen decided to cooperate.

Division of tasks

The division of roles and tasks of COA, the local authority and other stakeholders will be defined. This is all about liveability, safety, education, social and medical care in and around the reception site.

It concerns a second emergency reception site of COA in the City of Leeuwarden. The other site is Heliconstate. This reception site has been suitable for accommodating up to 340 residents since October 2022.
