Prinsentuin house rules

The City of Leeuwarden will start a trial in 2026. During this trial, drinking alcohol in the Prinsentuin will be permitted during certain hours and in certain locations.

The local authority wants to test whether this can be done in a safe and healthy way, without causing nuisance. You can find out all about this trial in the plan (opens in new tab) for the alcohol trial.

How do we ensure that the Prinsentuin remains a pleasant place for visitors and the surrounding area?
The local authority has drawn up a plan (opens in new tab) for the Prinsentuin, which sets out what is already available in the park and what could be added in future.

Welcome to the Prinsentuin!
For almost 400 years, people have come here to walk, picnic and enjoy the greenery in the city. Once a pleasure garden of the House of Nassau, it is now open to everyone. • Put waste in the bin or take it home
• Please enjoy this place without sound systems
• Park bicycles in the bike racks
• Quiet after 10 pm
• Keep a distance from boats and homes
• Swimming is not allowed here. More information can be found on the page zwemwater (opens in new tab).
• Follow instructions

Alcohol (18+)

Allowed from 1 April–30 September between 12 pm and 8 pm

• Stay within the designated area of the Prinsentuin
• Not on the lawns near the homes at Wissesdwinger and Noorderbrug
• Handle glass and cans carefully
• Only bring drinks in small packaging (no crates, for example)

Willkommen im Prinsentuin!
Seit fast 400 Jahren kann man hier spazieren gehen, picknicken und das Grün in der Stadt genießen. Früher ein Lustgarten des Hauses Nassau, heute für alle zugänglich. • Abfall in den Mülleimer werfen oder wieder mit nach Hause nehmen
• Hier genießen wir ohne Lautsprecher
• Fahrräder bitte in den Fahrradständern abstellen
• Nach 22:00 Uhr ist es ruhig
• Abstand zu Booten und Wohnungen halten

Alkohol (18+)

Erlaubt vom 1. April – 30. September zwischen 12:00 und 20:00 Uhr

• Im ausgewiesenen Bereich des Prinsentuin bleiben
• Nicht auf den Rasenflächen bei den Wohnungen Wissesdwinger und Noorderbrug
• Vorsichtig mit Glas und Dosen umgehen
• Getränke nur in kleinen Verpackungen mitbringen (zum beispiel keine Kisten)
