Quick to:

Having someone else vote for you (proxy)

If you are unable to go to the polling station yourself, you can ask another voter to vote on your behalf. You must give this voter a proxy, which they can use to vote on your behalf. You can file a request using one of the following methods:

  1. Proxy via voting card.
  2. Written proxy.

Proxy via voting card

A proxy via voting card is only possible once you have received the voting card. This proxy can be used until the day of the election. This cannot be arranged at the polling station itself.

How does it work?

Complete the back of the voting card and sign it. Hand your voting card and a copy or picture of your identity card to the other voter.
The other voter:

  • must have a voting card of the City of Leeuwarden;
  • must also vote in Leeuwarden;
  • must submit the proxy at the same time as their own voting card;
  • can accept up to 2 voting proxies.

Written proxy

Arranging it online

You can arrange a written proxy online up to 13 March. You will need a DigiD to do so. The voter who will vote on your behalf must submit their own signature. This person will receive a certificate of authorisation and will not need to show a copy of your identity document.

Arranging it verbally

You can apply for a proxy at Town Hall until noon on 17 March. The voter who will vote on your behalf must also be present. You can make an appointment for this or drop by during the free walk-in. If you have a proof of identity, you should bring this.
