Zuiderburen mooring locations
Over the past period, the City of Leeuwarden has looked into how residents view the future of the mooring locations along Langesân. To this end, a survey was held among residents of the streets that are directly involved: Braksân, Frouwesân, Langesân, Moleplaat, Noarder Stienplaat, Skûtesân, Suder Stienplaat, Ytsjesân and De Hoek. These streets were involved in the study because of their vicinity to the location and because the mooring locations might have consequences for them.
Outcomes of the survey
In total, 268 residents completed the survey. Opinions in the district vary.
When asked whether the mooring locations along Langesân should stay, 56.7% answered yes, 34.9% answered no and 8.4% had no opinion. This indicates that many residents would like the mooring locations to stay, but there are also concerns about the situation and the location’s future. Respondents were also asked how the mooring locations should be regulated if they were to stay. 71.7% opted for a subscription system. 16.3% would like to see unregulated mooring locations. 65.3% believe that residents without a mooring location should be first in line.
Walk-in evening
A walk-in evening will be organised on 13 May in the Markant community building from 7 pm to 9 pm. During this evening, residents will have the opportunity to ask questions, raise points for attention and discuss the plans.
Following the walk-in evening, the local authority will continue its permit application. In doing so, the local authority will take the outcomes of the survey, the responses from the neighbourhood and the outcomes of the walk-in evening into account.

The local authority recognises that residents have varying opinions about the Langesân mooring locations. Most residents would like the mooring locations to stay, but there are also concerns in the neighbourhood.
The local authority will therefore start with a 2-year subscription system pilot project. Clear rules will be in place during this period, and it will be examined how this will affect the neighbourhood, safety and how the body of water is used.
The local authority will subsequently decide whether this approach will be maintained or adjusted.
