Greening of the UG Campus
The Willemskade at the RUG Campus Fryslân (the Beursgebouw) will become much greener. The stones that are now there will make way for trees and grass. There will also be chairs and benches so that students and other enthusiasts can enjoy this place.

During a walk-in evening on February 5, 2024, a video ‘Greening the RUG Fair’ (opens in new tab) and an initial design of what the space at the RUG Campus could look like were shown.

Historical research Willemskade
Before drafting the design for the RUG Campus, the local authority commissioned historical research into the quay wall and railing of the Willemskade. This included consideration of the historical values. The study can be found in the document Historical research Willemskade Leeuwarden (opens in new tab).
