Quick to:

Review of the first pilot

The first pilot ran from October 2022 to October 2024 and targeted 100 households in Leeuwarden Oost. A debt consolidation loan through Kredietbank Nederland and a one-off repayment by the local authority enabled participants to clear their debts at an accelerated pace. The evaluation in February 2025 showed that this approach improved the lives of many participants.

What does the new round entail?

From 1 September 2025, another 50 households can participate in SchuldenvrijLWD (debt-free Leeuwarden). For the most part, the approach remains the same:

  • you cannot repay your debts within 3 years
  • the residual debt will be remitted in one go
  • you will be are given assistance through Amaryllis to get your life back on track.

Second pilot: Early breakthrough

A second pilot is starting. This is called: Early Breakthrough and is aimed at 50 residents with debts that are currently under control, but without help could grow into debts you cannot eventually manage on your own. Here too, debts are paid off all at once to avoid stress and a worse situation.

Amaryllis uses the Op-Maat method to determine eligibility. The Op-Maat method shows what it costs, what it delivers and what effect it has on you life.
