The City of Leeuwarden has the ambition to become the European capital in the field of water technology. As a Capital of Water Technology the city offers many opportunities for research and product development.

Dazzling Activities

Leeuwarden is home to dazzling activities in the field of water technology. The water technology industry of Leeuwarden obtains a substantial part of its turnover on the international water market.
Tens of companies, scientific institutions and authorities are involved in scientific research, work on new and sustainable technologies and are actively seeking to find commercial solutions.

Water Campus

Leeuwarden has enlisted a major player with the Wetsus scientific institute. A number of young water technology firms are established in the Science Center Johannes de Doper industrial estate. Together with Wetsus they constitute the Leeuwarden Water Campus. According to plan, the Water Campus will be expanded considerably in the near future.
